Idea Cellular Company in India is an integral part of Aditya Birla Group. Idea Cellular Service providing operations in 18 circles in India having over 47 million users. Idea having operations in Maharashtra & Goa, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Utter Pradesh-West, Himachal Pradesh, Utter Pradesh-East, Rajasthan, Kerala, Mumbai, Punjab, Karnataka, Bihar, Orissa, Tamilnadu & Chennai. Many people in India using internet, maximum percentage of users use internet from cyber cafe and else from home. Now a day’s internet is a need of many users but because of high rates of Broadband internet connection the user cannot afford it. Such users can now use internet as daily, weekly once or alternately days in months, so for such type of users couple of Cellular or Mobile companies introducing mobile internet. The user can use internet on mobile using GPRS services of that cellular company.
Idea also having such types of internet services so the user can use it as prepaid or postpaid plans. Actually you can browse internet on mobile and laptop/desktop, by using mobile as a modem to connect to computer to use internet the required mobile handset must be GPRS enabled. It also required data cable or bluetooth connectivity to make connection with phone and computer. Our mobile works like a modem to receive packet data from internet.
We can choose Internet plans as per our usage as per day or weekly, here i suggested only prepaid plans of Idea and also submitted modem setting below.
Idea offers prepaid Internet service for mobile users
- You can activate internet plans by using your existing balance or by direct special recharge through retailers. There are several Internet browsing plans starts from day pack to monthly pack with some limited free data usage available respectively.
For activation of any above plan dial *55055# now service asks 6 options in that you have to select 1st option for activating to GPRS WEEK PACK and for GPRS DAY pack select 2nd option. Else options are for postpaid plans and for deactivation of services. Now after answering to selection menu of that service packs the next menu comes and ask to choose your cell company. Example, Nokia, Motorola, lg, others. So in this menu you select your phone model. Now after some times you will receive settings, save that settings as default settings in your mobile.
For selecting any service of internet, Idea charge 3 rupees as for Value added service activation request
Now Making Internet Connection to surf on pc
- Connect your mobile to computer or laptop using blue-tooth or data-cable.
- Open your PC-suite
- Click to connect to Internet
- Go to settings, select your phone/modem
- select "IDEA India"
- Now choose manual setting
- In the Field of APN type: internet
- Select finish and click to connect.
To browse internet on mobile or on computer the account balance must be minimum 5 rupees and downloading charges extra.

There is no separate costs for using GPRS on mobile or PC. And if you activate for WAP sites (pack) then you can't use internet on PC, you can open only WAP sites on your mobile.

Micromax Q5 phone suite working after following yor procedure but not fully. Further internet connection on PC through micromax phone/modem is not possible even after following your procedure.
Overall Micromax Q5 phone is critical/problematic for connecting to PC/Laptop & for Internet.
@Shridhar, I think you have posted comment on wrong article, but I ll help you, after you connect successfully micromax mobile then you have to create modem settings in PC-suite. After modem settings, you can use Internet as a dial-up connection.

If idea brings a Rs 50 monthly plan of GPRS ( down load upto 1 GB)in addition to Rs 98 down load upto 2 GB like in docomo, airtel it will be a good idea. Else many customers are forced to shift to other service providers

Suresh, may be there is not a strong network in your area, for that you are not accessing internet smoothly, better you change your service provider.
